Department Responsibilities 
  • Update and revise the comprehensive plan, land use ordinance and subdivision ordinance as needed; policy analyses, and committee activities.
  • Permitting and enforcement of all land use and construction activities. 
  • Maintain information resources; zoning maps, public facing informational maps, and current ordinances.
  • Review all commercial and subdivision projects; site plan and subdivision review.
  • Coordinate with other departments on new developments and activities. 
  • Leads grant applications and administration for Town projects. 
  • Write requests for qualifications and proposals and administer selection process for consultants for Town projects. 
  • Our department also works on the following: prepares agendas and staff reports; administers the project review process; maintains complete and accessible files of projects; and monitors construction projects.

The Office of Planning, Community, and Economic Development shall be a customer-oriented community resource with the ability to deliver high quality information on land use, planning and economic development issues to residents of Rockport. 
 
Staff shall be highly skilled in providing thoughtful, well-researched answers to land use, planning and economic development queries in a timely and professional manner.
