Personal Property Schedule Form 2025

What is this and why do we do this?

Maine law dictates that all Personal Property associated with a business is subject to property taxation. Personal Property is all tangible property used in business.

This does not include inventory for sale, but does include just about everything other than real estate: manufacturing equipment, office furniture, store fixtures, displays and shelving, telephone and computer systems, software, motel, hotel and inn property furnishings, heavy and light duty construction equipment, home occupation fixtures and equipment, tools, signs, security systems, etc.

Personal Property values reflect the status of a property as of April 1 of each year. It is very important to notify us if you are no longer located in Rockport or if your business has closed or moved, along with an effective date. You must report Personal Property even if the business you operate is seasonal. You don’t have to be using the business property on April 1; you simply must own it on April 1.

If yours is an established business that has filed in the past, a simple list of additions and deletions is all that’s needed. Electronic filing using Excel or Word is an acceptable option. Also, we’ll be happy to provide you with a copy – by email, fax or snail mail – of your previous accounting to aid you in compiling this year’s list.
